Dang

Gujarat's thickest forest, alive with monsoon waterfalls and fireflies

About Dang

Why travellers fall for Dang

Dang district holds the densest forest cover in Gujarat and catches the state's heaviest rains — around 2,500 mm each monsoon. From July the whole landscape turns heavenly: living waterfalls, lush green hills, water streams and muddy rivers running beside clear forest roads. High above it all sits Rupgadh, one of the very few hill forts of Gujarat at 1,670 ft near Kalibel — a short but stiff trek through dance-forest and muddy trail, best attempted at the peak of the monsoon.
